Associate Professor John Bradley

At the age of twenty, John Bradley went to teach Aboriginal children in the remote town of Borroloola, on the Gulf of Carpentaria. He soon became the student as the Yanyuwa elders and their families decided to educate him on their language, culture and songlines.  Associate Professor Bradley earned his PhD in anthropology at the Northern Territory University.  He is now the Deputy Director of the Monash Indigenous Studies Centre (MISC) and leads the Monash Country Lines Archive project.  Monash’s Indigenous Centre is also represented on the Australian Centre for Indigenous History at the Australian National University.
