Professor Frank Bongiorno, AM FASSA FAHA

Professor Frank Bongiorno earned his PhD at the Australian National University in 1994. After a series of eminent posts in Australia and abroad, including the Menzies Centre for Australia Studies in London, he returned to the ANU, where he teaches labour and social history. Professor Bongiorno has published widely on topics as diverse as nineteenth century radicalism, the history of sexuality and the cultural and political history of the 1980s. He has served on the National Archives of Australia’s Advisory Committee, the NSW Arts Advisory Council and the Ministry of the Arts Literature and History Committee.

Professor Bongiorno was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Social Sciences in 2017 and received an AM for services to history the following year.
